Focusing On What Really Matters

I was talking to a good friend today, and she said that a few of the students in her Sunday school class got off topic and started talking about how “Obama is the Antichrist” and “He’s a muslim” and “He wasn’t born in the US” – basically, all the rumors that have been going around since he started getting national attention.

My first thought was “teach them how they’re wrong” – aka, show them how on Obama’s site, he talks about the fact he’s a Christian and how he came to faith (I don’t really need to tell you which church he goes to, do I?) And while he was born in the US, it doesn’t matter, because the fact that his mother was a US citizen makes him a US citizen no matter where he was born – no “forged” birth certificate necessary.

My next thought was “if he IS the antichrist, why’s that so bad?” – Think about it: We’re not here to stop the Antichrist… We’re here to bring as many people to the Truth as we can before Jesus comes back again. All that means is that if he is (which I really don’t think he is) then we’re simply on a timeline for Jesus’ return.

Are you ready?

I bolded the “you” there because it DOESN’T MATTER where other people are, if you’re not right with God. If he comes back, and you’re still judging other people for what they do, while ignoring your own relationship with Jesus… Well… good luck.

Now, I didn’t sit down and think “I’m going to write an armageddon post today” – heh, I really hope I never think that. I prefer to focus on happy, upbeat topics, and “armageddon” tends to strike terror in people’s hearts… Note: it shouldn’t, if you’re ready for it – I’m not talking “buy loads of bottled water and duct tape” ready, I’m talking “Jesus is your personal Lord and Savior” ready

What I really sat down to write about was that no matter what other people are saying and doing, you should be

Focusing On What Really Matters

Jesus came to Earth so that we could see how to REALLY live. And, for those of you saying “How’s that?!” I can sum it up in 1 word: Love

Think about it. Boil the entire Old Testament down into a few words, and you get Justice and Power. Do the same with the New Testament, and you get Hope and Love.

Why is that? Because the New Testament focuses on Jesus, and how he changed our ability to relate to God.

Jesus stood in our place and received God’s Justice and Power, so that we could live by Jesus’ example, and spread Hope that we’ll one day be in a perfect paradise, and Love eachother as Jesus did, and does.

Are we allowed to screw up? Sure, God knows we’re human. He knows we’re not perfect. (That’s why he sent Jesus!)

But, when everything is said and done, you’re going to look back over your life and see where your focus was.

Do you want to see sex? drugs? money? greed?

Or do you want to see family? friends? smiles? love?

How you answer that question may determine the course of the rest of your life, so choose carefully.

Bravo! :) I love it that you share your faith so openly. And more importantly, share with many non-believers! What a great post and we certainly SHOULD be focusing our lives there in Jesus! :)
  • Nice post! Jason, I really enjoyed reading it.

Very good point about focus on what really matters. We can not control what others say or do, but we can control what we think, say and do. If we keep our focus on our faith in Christ and love, we are bringing love/happiness/joy/hope to ourselves and to the people around us.

When we keep worrying about what others may say or do, we would live in a unhappy and bitter life. What you worry about would indeed become a reality.
  • Jason thanks for the great post. You are very correct.

Didnt anyone ever tell you that you are not suppossed to bring Jesus or God into internet marketing.

Of course I did not listen anymore than you will.

My response to that is How Dare I not bring God into my business.

Are we allowed to screw up . Oh yes we are. David the little guy who fought the giant and took him out screwed up more times than we can set here and tell you but yet the giant fell because of his faithfulness in bringing his focus back onto God and where his strength was coming from.

Yes we will all screw up but when we do... all we have to do is get our focus back off the screw up or the giant and get it back on to the one who will help us get things back under control.

    Thanks Jason
